We offer meditation classes at The Yoga Collective in our newly renovated room off the lobby.  Detailed class descriptions are listed after the schedule below.  These classes are all 30 minutes long, and while they are included as part of the regular memberships, they also have a special $10 drop in rate for a single session.

If you’ve never had any experience in a group meditation setting before we’d highly recommend coming to check it out, especially because the group energy tends to create a situation where you find yourself moving deeper and finding stillness a bit easier than when you’re on your own.

We’ll begin with a 10 minute guided meditation gently floating us in to 20 minutes of peaceful silence…a sacred journey inward. This experience is for everyone and the benefits can be profound.

I suffered for years with debilitating anxiety. From the moment I would open my eyes in the morning it would consume me. I was desperately seeking solace and inner peace. Although I was proactive by practicing yoga, reading spiritual self help books, vegan, no caffeine, no alcohol…I still had anxiety. I noticed that many of the authors of the books I was reading said they meditated. I wanted to be the highest version of myself and rid myself of the daily suffering. That’s when I began my love affair with TM or Transcendental Meditation. In 2015 I took a course and was immediately reaping the benefits…no more anxiety…finally!
It made me calm, centered, present, clear minded and even more intuitive. It has changed the quality of my life.

I’ve done two Hatha yoga teacher trainings in Costa Rica since then and I’m a Yoga Alliance Certified 500hr RYT. Those incredibly transformative trainings immersed me in many different styles of meditation which I continue to practice in addition to TM.

I am so grateful to be able to share this healing and life affirming ancient practice with you. It is a journey of self-realization, inner peace and divine wisdom.

Meditation is a practice of learning how to align our senses to the present moment in order to calm our ever busy minds and center our bodies and spirits. In mediation we learn how to restore balance in our lives to get from a place of stress and anxiety to an authentic connection with the power and peace within us. Meditation is scientifically proven to be extremely beneficial for the health of our brain. Particularly in regards to our grey matter which consists largely of neuronal cells, meaning the health of our grey matter will directly influence how we deal with day to day tasks and potentially stressful situations. You don’t need to know how to meditate in order to obtain these benefits, all you have to do is listen and allow your mind to drift away into its natural tranquil state as we guide you through a journey within.

Mindfulness Exercises with Patrick

This class will focus on bringing the level of consciousness that many people are capable of achieving in a typical, static meditation format into our everyday lives- which tend to be anything but still and quiet!  This is a tall order, but with the application of tried and true techniques and exercises we can work towards finding stillness in even the most challenging situations.

I first began practicing these techniques more than fifteen years ago, well before “mindfulness” was a term used to describe the state of being we’re working to find and maintain.  My experience first began in nature, usually alone and well off the beaten path.  I learned under the guidance of teachers working to maintain and pass on the knowledge of peoples who lived close to the earth- what would be called hunter/gatherers in modern terms.  While the physical skills of living in harmony with nature are sometimes referred to as “primitive living skills”, the levels of consciousness attained in their pursuit are anything but primitive.

As time passed I learned more techniques that could be applied not just alone in nature, but everywhere, in every moment of every day.  This changed my life dramatically, not just in a complete reversal of trajectory but also on a moment to moment basis.  I still struggle to apply these techniques, to be present, or “mindful” on a daily basis.  I look forward to sharing this knowledge with those who are interested, and I honestly feel that passing on these teachings could be the most important thing I do at the yoga collective!
